Public Space Artworks and Refurbishment
River Thames Riverside Walk Strategy -
City of London

Arising from a public consultation exercise and documentary film the project seeks to make improvements and interventions into the only cover space along the City of Londons Riverside Walk.

The project will be completed on-site by March 2007 and represents a close working relationship between the City of London's Street Scene team and The Facility. Extensive consultation with adjoining neighbours and Network Rail's licencing department were required.

A Soundscape:

The environmental sound samples to be included are: -
A - Sounds of water / river flow and splashing against the steps, tidal flow
B - History of Steelyard Passage - spoken word
C - Riverboats, cruisers and background riverside ambient sounds.

River of Light

Installation of a river of light in the floor of the passage, to help light the space, preference the floor zone which is currently neglected

General Alterations, Lighting Scheme etc.

Improvements to the archway generally will include relighting the tunnel, directing new fittings from the spring points of the arches upwards to light the surfaces of the arches and structure. T
